Home hospitality in an Uttarakhand village
- 5 days onwards.
As Eco Tourism is to involve the tourist in a personal relationship with
nature; natives of the region with hundreds of years of cumulative experience
become primary link explaining the all important chain.
We facilitate this by arranging for the tourist to stay with a hospitable
family as a guest and share their life style. Normally in a day or two
one gets to adjust to the lifestyle and then may offer to help the ‘host’
in routine tasks like taking the to graze in the hills, collect fire-wood,
talk to village elders, teach school kids or just play with the children!
One may even go for a day or two of trekking in and around the village
on a less travelled road!
This August, two Scottish young ladies will be teaching English to children
in a Himalayan village. A Himalayan Village home consists of the family
and the extended family of couple of cows, buffaloes, sheep’s, goats,
etc. Often they share same premises.
All along Theme Tours India will provide facilitators to help with local
customs and generally assist ‘communicating’. For missing
creature comforts such as indoor toilets it will make suitable arrangements
including toilet tents!
Hemkund Sahib or Valley of Flowers (Bhyundaar)
